Acceptance to Colleges and Universities At Episcopal High School, college advising is a top priority; in the past five years alone, we have sent 637 graduates to attend 169 colleges and universities. Our College Counseling Office is housed in spacious facilities containing two separate advising rooms, as well as a student information center, where students can use a wide variety of helpful resources. Here, they may browse through numerous catalogs and viewbooks from colleges and universities nationwide in order to obtain important information about college options. Students may also view college videos, with the flexibility of being able to check them out for home viewing. Each year, seniors also have numerous opportunities to meet with the many college representatives who visit EHS. Last year, almost 100 representatives from as far away as Switzerland and Scotland visited with our seniors. Our goal is to find several colleges and/or universities where a student will feel comfortable, both academically and socially. With so many places to choose from, the college search can seem quite overwhelming to students; therefore, we are here to assist them with the process and to help eliminate unnecessary stress. Preparing for college admission starts as early as the freshman year. Our faculty members serve as advisors, making sure that students take the courses required for admission to competitive colleges and universities. During the sophomore year, the College Counseling Department offers a tour of Texas colleges that allows students to visit small, medium, and large colleges and universities, both private and public, representing a variety of competitive levels. During the junior and senior years, we work with our students on a more individual basis, helping them narrow their choices. Alumni have been accepted into a variety of top level colleges. |
